Job Family – Training

JOB SUMMARY: Directs and coordinates Business Operations training, including but not limited to the apprentice training program activities, develops and manages training components of crafts and technical personnel, provides classroom and on-site training in OSHA/occupational safety, DDC,post-accident, and annual and mandatory soft skills training. Monitors and provides post-training follow-up across Business Operations to all levels of crafts, technical and support personnel in accordance with district and state mandates. Assists with curriculum development and program enhancement, facilitates and monitors vendor and outside/contract training services, and assists Business Operations training administration in assessing, enhancing, and providing state-of-the-art program presentation and support.

1. Plans, coordinates, and implements training programs to address quality support processes and district wide efforts supporting OSHA/Occupational Safety, Apprentice Program management and supervisory and leadership training, while reviewing and monitoring program effectiveness, schedules and post-training inspections and follow-up initiatives.

2. Directs and coordinates training program activities to develop and manage proficiency and skill components for apprentice, crafts and technical personnel to ensure that programs satisfy standards established by the Business Operations Department and that they comply with rules, regulations, guidelines and other scopes of operation to satisfy safety and employee skills criteria.

3. Provides classroom, on-site and post-training to determine program effectiveness and employee skills compliance; assists with program development and enhancements, including recommendations to support improvements to and changes in curricula, restructuring and development efforts. Provides leadership in the evaluation and assessment of programs to ensure operational efficiency.

4 Satisfies certification, licensing and compliance needs for all Business Operations crafts and technical personnel to include apprentice participants, through training and skills development in order to plan, develop, facilitate and conduct training that prepare employee participants in areas of specialty.

5. Manages, monitors, facilitates and evaluates vendors, contract and other outside training groups regarding program offerings, program delivery, quality control, improvements, and modifications to include participating colleges, vocational schools and othe

Job Description

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, additional equivalent and directly related education and experience, as determined by Human Resources and the hiring manager, can fulfill the degree requirement. Equivalent experience is 4 years in a related field, in addition to the minimum experience requirement of 3 years.

WORK EXPERIENCE: 3 to 5 years

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES: No supervisory or direct people management responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice and training to staff.

WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT: Work involves the application of moderately complex procedures and tasks that are quite varied. Independent judgment is often required to select and apply the most appropriate of available resources. Ongoing supervision is provided on an "as needed" basis.

BUDGET AUTHORITY: No budget development activity is required.

PROBLEM SOLVING: Decisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude, but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas.

IMPACT OF DECISIONS: Decisions have minor, small and possibly incremental impact on the department or facility. Errors are usually discovered in succeeding operations where most of the work is verified or checked and is normally confined to a single department or phase of the organizational activities resulting in brief inconvenience.

COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS: Information sharing - gives and receives information such as options, technical direction, instructions and reporting results. Interactions are mostly with customers, own supervisor and coworkers in own and other departments.

CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS: Takes routine or required customer actions to meet customer needs. Responds promptly and accurately to customer complaints, inquiries and requests for information and coordinates appropriate follow-up. May handle escalated issues passed on from coworkers or subordinates.

WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work involves frequent exposure to unpleasant elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noise, chemicals, etc. Ability to carry and/or lift 45 pounds or more.
